I came across this article on Real Clear Politics that discusses Rudy Giuliani as a potential winner for the Republicans in the 2008 elections.
I have to admit, I like Giuliani. His views tend to agree with mine, being a fiscal conservative and a social moderate. As the article points out, his support for gay rights and abortion will be a problem with the hardcore social conservatives in the Republican party. The 2008 elections are still fairly open, and a Giuliani candidacy would draw supporters in both parties, much more so than someone like Hillary or Bore Gore. Giuliani could run on a platform of leadership, with a solid record of managing a large enterprise (New York City) while working both with supporters and opponents toward a greater good.
