Picasa Web Albums - Google Photos - Coming Soon to a WWW Near You

Google Blogoscoped has the scoop: Picasa web albums coming soon. The online photo hosting realm is one which Google has yet to enter but could make a powerful showing. Google Photos (or whatever they call it) won’t likely be revolutionary just for hosting pictures, but rather when they integrate it with Gmail and such. Imagine an application where someone can click on an email address in Gmail and instantly browse that user’s photos. Of course the links could go the other way as well, easily embedding Google-hosted photos into Gmail messages or Google Talk conversations.

Hosting photos is boring. Integrating photos into a digital Google-branded lifestyle could be interesting.
