Over at O’Reilly, Dan Zambonini introduces the idea of contextual tagging, that is, the notion of adding some context or metadata to tags to help narrow down what the tag might be defining.
My gut reaction is that the power of freeform tagging is in the freeform nature and relative lack of structure. Specifying too many details will narrow down results, but it will also potentially exclude results. I guess I don’t see it as a problem, but perhaps others do.
