People Pretending They Matter: Cindy Sheehan

Cindy Sheehan has used the insurance money from her son’s death to purchase property in Crawford, Texas. She “can’t think of a better way to use Casey’s insurance money than for peace” which is a pleasant thought, but I’m not sure how alienating everyone who lives in Crawford is going to incite peace.

This is a woman who has admitted that her actions now have nothing to do with her son, and she’s taking up residence in an area that has actively said they don’t want her. She just screams “desperate publicity whore” and it’s sad. If she really wants to promote peace, there’s a lot of things she could do and organizations she could work with where her efforts would actually matter. More media stunts aren’t the answer.
