I’m vacationing in Colorado in a few weeks and have been watching rental car prices jump all over the place. In the past week and a half, the rate for a compact car has ranged anywhere from $67 to $200 for a week. It seems there’s a random number generator in play. Moral of the story? Keep checking rates and book when it’s cheap.

It’s called supply and demand. When a lot of people want to rent cars on a particular day, the rates go up. When very people want to rent cars on a particular day, the rates go down. Rental car rates literally change daily.
