Dave Winer just posted a note to fellow Democrats, reading in part:
Now is the time to attack the Republicans for plotting war against Iran, for raping the Constitution.
Note to Dave, and to the Democrats: y’all need to come up with some sort of substantive, real platform other than “We’re not Republicans” or the failed mantra from Kerry’s campaign of “We’re not Bush.” Get a plan. Get a clue. How do you think the Republicans took over Congress and enjoyed such popularity in the mid-90’s… they had a plan. Their Contract With America provided a solid, in-writing platform that anyone could read and understand. Whether you agreed with them or not, you knew where they stood.
The Democrats would enjoy a lot more popularity and have a lot more success if anyone knew where they were going. Instead, we keep hearing about the evil-ness of Bush and how Republicans are bad.
Stop telling everyone Republicans are bad. Tell everyone what the Democrats will do that is good.
