Under the category of “interesting services formerly only for big spenders”, there’s a site called IsMySiteUp? that will tell you, well, if your site is up. Looks like they offer a 30 day free trial and will check a variety of service ports, with notification via e-mail or SMS message. The service seems to work fine for me and if you have a website and are concerned about downtime it’s worth checking it out.
