Hosting Provider Performance

Lately, FeedBurner has been reporting occasional timeouts when attempting to retrieve the feeds for this site and another blog I host. In the past I’ve been burned by web hosts that run into performance problems. Yes, I understand I’m not paying them very much money per month, and to a certain extent you get what you pay for, but even on a relatively cheap plan a certain level of quality is expected. Today I heard about www.realmetrics.com which is a site that tests and rates a bunch of web hosts based on performance. It looks like they offer some decent comparisons between sites, allowing one to at least see which hosts to consider and which ones to avoid.
