Eliminating Unneeded E-Mail

Here’s one strategy I’m currently employing to downsize my inbox.

I’ve setup filters in Gmail to label and archive pretty much everything coming in from assorted mailing lists and Google Alerts.  What I’ve found is that many of the items I’m subscribed to I really don’t read.  Particularly the Google Alerts.  Lately my standard MO seems to be to let them pile up for a couple days, go to the label, select all and delete.

I’m also going through a process to move as many subscriptions and such from e-mail into my RSS aggregator, which is much more suited for filtering signal from noise…
