Best Summary of the James Chasse Fallout

So far, I think b!x has posted one of the best one-line summaries of the James Chasse fallout and the city’s response and plan to focus more resources on the mentally ill:

However, we hope that they do not divert attention from the fact that James Chasse did not die because he suffered from mental illness, he died because police officers beat him so severely they fractured 16 of his ribs and splintered pieces of his ribs punctured his lungs.

Update: looks like that quote was not from b!x but rather Portland Copwatch.

    Hey thanks for blogging about Jim. B!x + Dan H are right – Jim didn’t die of his mental illness. We need a groundswell to counteract the status quo.
