Yellowing Pages

October 19, 2006

Tonight Scoble asks how many still use the Yellow Pages.

Not I.  I haven’t used the dead-tree phone book for a few years now.  Why?  Because I can look things up online faster than I can find the book, find the right section in the book, and look up something written in 6-point font.

It’s also the case that you have to be on the same wavelength as the person who bought the ad as to what category you should be looking in to find them. With the internet, you get to search all their text to find them. If they’ve mentioned what you’re looking for, you’ll find them.

I’ve also noticed lately, both in yellow and white pages, that things aren’t always alphabetically ordered. Drives me crazy.

If Dex is putting out a book in Albuquerque. Why did they find it necessary to publish a secondary publication for the same are which is very incomplete and with out all the headings and names of businesses and has the audacity to call this Phone Book DEX “PLUS”
