With their last bug-squashing effort, the Google Reader team made it easy to add a feed to a folder/label when adding it via their “Add Feed” interface. Bravo and thank you.
However, there’s one interface that’s still awkward and in my opinion, missing:
When viewing a feed, there’s a Feed Settings dropdown, which should have a “Add to folder” option. Why? So I can subscribe to feeds easily via Firefox and label them. I can configure the Firefox address bar feed icon to add feeds in Google Reader and it works like a charm. However, the feed is added at the top-level “root” and there is no easy way to then label/tag that feed, short of going to the Manage Feeds interface, searching for it, and finally labeling it. Adding the labeling functionality to the Feed Settings dropdown would save a few steps and make the process much easier.
