BrainCast Launches – Voice Recording Management

At one point in time I carried around a small digital voice recorder to keep track of my thoughts and notes. Lately I haven’t been using it. A new web service called BrainCast just launched which brings voice recording and management online.

After signing up for the service, you simply call an 800 number from any phone (landline, cell phone, VoIP, it doesn’t matter) and you can record messages. Later, you can log on to the account and listen to and organize the messages. It seems like it would be an interesting way to keep track of to-dos or other things you think of while you’re out running around and need to take care of once you’re back in the office or at home.

It has most of the latest web goodies such as tagging (they call it labeling) and there’s a small social aspect in that you can send a recording to a friend (it sends a .WAV attachment via email). It’s an interesting idea, I’ll try it out to play with it but time will tell if it becomes something I use every day.
