Joel Wants Shutdown Options Eliminated

Today Joel on Software looks at the ridiculous number of ways to turn off your computer in Windows Vista. He then analyzes ways that options might be combined or eliminated to make the process easier to understand and require less thinking. Because that’s really what it’s all about: you shouldn’t have to think about how to turn off your computer.

Reading through his conclusions, I can follow along and agree with almost all of them, except for one… hey says “Switch User and Lock can be combined by letting a second user log on when the system is locked. ” I sure hope not. When I lock my PC, I leave several applications running and files open. I expect they will be in that same state when I return.

Other than that one issue, it’s a good read. Check it out.
