James Kim and Personal Responsibility
It’s sad to see that any notion of personal responsibility has apparently disappeared from our country, or at least disappeared from the mainstream media. When James Kim and his family were lost in the woods, the rumors started flying about how it must’ve been those darned online mapping services that sent him astray. A bunch of people reposted the suggested Google Maps route that he was thought to have taken. Later it was revealed that they were following a (paper) Oregon state map.
Now, folks are making a huge deal about the fact that a gate on a BLM road wasn’t locked. At some point, folks need to take responsibility for themselves. And the part that annoys me is that everyone is trying to blame someone else… except the Kims. I haven’t heard Ms. Kim trying to find someone to blame. And for that I am hopeful… hopeful that there are still some reasonable people left, who don’t think that every single bad thing is always someone else’s fault, and that there is no such thing as an accident.
Accidents happen. Many of them could’ve been prevented, but that doesn’t change the fact they’re accidents. There doesn’t need to be blame and a lawsuit every time something goes wrong.
