A Reading Pet Peeve: Now You’ve Mastered
While reading this otherwise-excellent post on the Blog Herald today, I ran into one of my pet peeves as a reader: the use of the phrase “Now you’ve mastered…” as a segue between steps in a “how to” piece.
It bothers me because, no, I haven’t mastered the topic after reading a few paragraphs. I’ve become familiar with it, yes. I’m not sure if the phrase started as sarcasm, or if that is the intended usage, but for some reason it disturbs me.
