Verizon Wireless – Useless Website

I just had a frustrating experience trying to do what should be a really simple task on Verizon’s website.  My goal was to cancel the $5/month “Mobile Web” service on my cell phone, which should’ve been as easy as going to their site and de-selecting the feature.

I went to the site.  I was able to find the screen to add/remove features.  I found where it lists the mobile web service.  Unlike all the other services I can remove, the mobile web service doesn’t have a checkbox to remove it:

No checkbox :(

So, I did the next logical thing.  Attempted to contact Verizon through the website.  I hit the “contact us” link and was then given this screen:

Where am I?

Why the hell do they have to ask me where I’m at?  I’m signed into my account, so they know all of my billing and service information.

After giving them my location, then they want to know all of my contact information (name, phone number, etc.).   HELLO!  You’re my damned phone provider!  I’m signed into my account. You should know my phone number.

So, I spent a couple minutes typing in a bunch of information they already have, and sent in my query.  We’ll see if they can bungle the response as badly as their website bungled my attempt at customer service.

I know this is an old post but your site came up in a Google search. Almost three years after the original post and not much has changed for the Verizon site. It is RIDICULOUS. I went to order the MiFi device the other day and it sends you in an infinite loop, asking you to login over and over again. Turns out, the site was sending me to the wrong page. Now that I’ve found a work-around I can’t track my order online! T-Mobile may have the worse coverage, but they have the best site. Verizon has a rep for being your grandmother’s cell provider… and for good reason. Up until recently they had NO good phones and their site is ugly and non-functional.
