There seems to be ongoing discussion and controversy about sponsored links and search engine/directory placement for websites. There’s at least one company being honest. Big Web Links lets you bid for position on their website directory, with the top placement going to the highest bidder. Looking at their site, it’s obvious they’re just starting but they do have quite a few links already placed. It’s an interesting concept and very transparent. Check out the FAQ on their site for more, but I applaud them for a straightforward business model.
