ProShow Gold and Windows Vista
As a software developer, I’ve done what I feel is responsible and learned about the changes in Windows Vista. Lots of folks are up in arms about UAC, but what it really boils down to is that if you’ve written your software correctly, UAC isn’t a problem.
However, if you’ve written your software like Photodex, the makers of ProShow Gold, you don’t have to worry about annoying the user with a UAC warning. Instead, when the user (me) tries to open a slideshow, the app just crashes.
Workaround: run the app with Administrative privileges. Because we all know that a program that creates photo slideshows obviously needs to have full system administrative access. </sarcasm>
