This morning I got to the Parkrose Transit Center at my usual time, walked out to the train platform and waited with the usual people. Nothing was unusual, until our train didn’t arrive. Not merely late, our train was just plain missing. Fifteen minutes later, the following train arrived, precisely on time and ready to be loaded with two trains’ worth of riders. We all crammed onto the train and the packed train got even more packed as I made my journey towards downtown.
I’m curious what was the deal with the missing train? Mechanical failure? Operator called in sick? Tell me, TriMet. In addition to their service alerts notifications, they could setup a web page noting service failures, where those of us who were affected could find out after the fact why we were delayed.

Yes Nick that gives their current service alerts, but never includes information for events in the past, so that you can go back and find out why you were delayed.
I’ve always been annoyed by that too. I’d really like to know WTF is going on sometimes. Once I waited 45 minutes out in Hillsboro for the MAX to show. During rush hour of all times. So when the train showed up it got PACKED immediately. I finally found out that a MAX driver had driven one of the MAX trains into a city truck that was crossing legally. So in the end because of ole’ FRA/LEgal/City legal obligation even though no one was hurt they had to pull the completely undamaged train out of service.
ugh, the ridiculousness.
The truck however, has been returned to the junk yard.
