Tomorrow night I’ll be joining the folks from the Portland Mercury to do a bit of litter cleanup by removing the hundreds/thousands of feet of tape and other litter that is now spread along the route of the Grand Floral Parade.
If you want a good parade seat, show up Saturday morning and it’s first come, first served. The streets have looked like crap for the last week with tape all over them. It’s great to see the Merc leading the effort to change things.
That said, I do think Randy Leonard’s suggestion of making yet another law to explicitly outlaw parade tape is a waste of time and money. There’s already a law… littering. Enforce the laws on the books rather than creating new ones.
It should be interesting. Jack Bog thinks we’ll get beat up. We’ll see.
