Google News Attempts to Be Pseudo-Social
In a move that I can only categorize as “odd”, Google News has added a commenting feature. It’s not your run-of-the-mills social news commenting, however. The only folks who can comment are those who are directly involved in the story itself.
As Mashable notes, this introduces a human element into the Google News scene, when their biggest defense to all prior criticisms has been “it’s all an algorithm.” Personally I’m not sure what to make of it… in fact, I wonder if it will even be used much at all outside the tech world.
