Social Bookmarking: Cite the Source
Blogs like Lifehacker, Seth Godin, Slashdot and others often write a couple sentences of commentary and link to an interesting article or blog post. That’s cool. As someone who is pretty much unknown to the blogosphere as a whole, it’s nice to get a little link love.
However, if you’re going to submit the post to a social bookmarking site like del.icio.us or a social news site like Digg, cite the source. Don’t submit the Lifehacker pointer; subit the source article. Credit (and link karma) belongs with the source.
